VAT RELIEF
VAT Exemption and VAT Relief are two phrases you may have heard a lot when looking at mobility products.
Most of our products have two prices - one with and one without VAT. VAT Relief is available on products specially designed for use by those with a long term medical condition or illness in a personal or domestic setting.
We hope that this guide will offer some explanation of who and when you can claim VAT Relief as well as the process of how to claim VAT Relief at the time of ordering online and in store.
Why Two Prices?
Most of the products on this website have two prices - this means that this product qualifies for VAT relief and can be purchased without paying the VAT.
This status is given to products which are specifically designed to be used to relieve the symptoms of a chronic illness or disability.
Where a single price is shown, the product does not qualify for VAT relief and the price includes VAT.
Am I Eligible?
Where two prices are shown for a product, the lower price (which excludes VAT) is available to those who are chronically sick, disabled or terminally ill. Chronically sick means that you have an illness that is likely to last a long time (such as arthritis, angina, etc). Disabled means substantially and permanently handicapped by illness or injury.
You do not have to be registered disabled to claim relief from VAT, but the nature of your illness or disablement must be specified in your declaration.
Unfortunately you do not qualify if you are elderly but able-bodied or if you are only temporarily disabled or injured.
How do I claim?
Claiming VAT relief is simple and quick. There are no assessments and you do not need to provide medical proof of any disability or condition. You simply need to fill in a quick form either online, in person or through the post.
Online
You will be asked whether you wish to claim relief from VAT during the checkout process. If you do wish to claim you will just need to state the illness or medical condition you are suffering from and tick to confirm that you wish to claim exemption and that the information you have provided is correct. It's that easy!
In Store
When buying an item in store it is just as easy to claim VAT relief as it is online. Our friendly staff will provide you with a simple form to fill out where you simply need to list your condition, name, address and provide a signature. It takes under a minute to fill out and can help save you a lot of money.
By Phone
If you would like to place your order by telephone and wish to claim VAT relief, we will have to charge you the VAT initially and then refund it to you once we have received a signed declaration. Once we receive your telephone order, we will send your goods to you along with a VAT declaration form for you to sign and send back to us using the Freepost address provided. Once we have received your signed declaration we will refund you the VAT difference to the same card you paid with.
We are required to retain a copy of your declaration and it may be passed to HM Customs & Excise as evidence of your eligibility. Your data is stored securely and will never be used for any marketing purposes or given to any 3rd parties. If you are in any doubt whether you qualify for VAT relief, please click here to email our customer services or call 01444 253 300. Alternatively, you may want to contact your local Customs & Excise office directly.

Details / Rascal Pioneer
Offering a high range and maximum user weight limit, the Rascal Pioneer really is one of the top road-legal mobility scooters around.
Designed with full coil suspension and large Captain's seat, the Pioneer provides you with a comfortable ride no matter the terrain or environment. This absorbing suspension and luxury seat is combined with large pneumatic tyres to help create a smooth ride for you and let you get out and explore.
With a large range of up to 35 miles on a single charge, the Pioneer is driven by a powerful motor which allows you to travel all day without the fear of needing to recharge or experience difficulties when journeying up inclines and across rough terrains.
The Pioneer is traditionally crafted with a large aluminium front bumper to help protect the shroud and front wheels should you be bumped into. The front tiller is positionable to allow for a wide range of driving positions and user heights. This ability to position the tiller is combined with a maximum user weight of up to 25 stone, this helps makes the Pioneer suitable for a wide range of users.
As with all road-legal scooters, the Pioneer features powerful front and rear lighting as well as highly visible indicators. These, as well as the ability to toggle the top speed between 4-8mph are legal requirements for road going scooters.
For those shopping trips to town the Pioneer comes with a large front basket as standard and its delta handlebar allows for precision control in tight areas. There is also the ability to order a detachable rear lockable box as an added extra.
When ordering from Clearwell, you can rest assured that your new scooter has been assembled and tested by one of our trained technicians. This means that you can get out and explore sooner and be confident that your scooter has been assembled correctly and professionally.
