VAT RELIEF
VAT Exemption and VAT Relief are two phrases you may have heard a lot when looking at mobility products.
Most of our products have two prices - one with and one without VAT. VAT Relief is available on products specially designed for use by those with a long term medical condition or illness in a personal or domestic setting.
We hope that this guide will offer some explanation of who and when you can claim VAT Relief as well as the process of how to claim VAT Relief at the time of ordering online and in store.
Why Two Prices?
Most of the products on this website have two prices - this means that this product qualifies for VAT relief and can be purchased without paying the VAT.
This status is given to products which are specifically designed to be used to relieve the symptoms of a chronic illness or disability.
Where a single price is shown, the product does not qualify for VAT relief and the price includes VAT.
Am I Eligible?
Where two prices are shown for a product, the lower price (which excludes VAT) is available to those who are chronically sick, disabled or terminally ill. Chronically sick means that you have an illness that is likely to last a long time (such as arthritis, angina, etc). Disabled means substantially and permanently handicapped by illness or injury.
You do not have to be registered disabled to claim relief from VAT, but the nature of your illness or disablement must be specified in your declaration.
Unfortunately you do not qualify if you are elderly but able-bodied or if you are only temporarily disabled or injured.
How do I claim?
Claiming VAT relief is simple and quick. There are no assessments and you do not need to provide medical proof of any disability or condition. You simply need to fill in a quick form either online, in person or through the post.
Online
You will be asked whether you wish to claim relief from VAT during the checkout process. If you do wish to claim you will just need to state the illness or medical condition you are suffering from and tick to confirm that you wish to claim exemption and that the information you have provided is correct. It's that easy!
In Store
When buying an item in store it is just as easy to claim VAT relief as it is online. Our friendly staff will provide you with a simple form to fill out where you simply need to list your condition, name, address and provide a signature. It takes under a minute to fill out and can help save you a lot of money.
By Phone
If you would like to place your order by telephone and wish to claim VAT relief, we will have to charge you the VAT initially and then refund it to you once we have received a signed declaration. Once we receive your telephone order, we will send your goods to you along with a VAT declaration form for you to sign and send back to us using the Freepost address provided. Once we have received your signed declaration we will refund you the VAT difference to the same card you paid with.
We are required to retain a copy of your declaration and it may be passed to HM Customs & Excise as evidence of your eligibility. Your data is stored securely and will never be used for any marketing purposes or given to any 3rd parties. If you are in any doubt whether you qualify for VAT relief, please click here to email our customer services or call 01444 253 300. Details / Karma Sparrow 2
The Karma Sparrow 2 wheelchair is designed for day-to-day use. You can choose between the attendant-propelled or self-propelled wheelchair.
It is equipped with swing-away footrests that use a simple mechanism to move the footrest without detaching from the wheelchair. Just lift and swing the footrest to free up leg space, never worry about losing your footrest ever again. In addition to being ultralight, weighing only 9.9 kg, the Sparrow is easy to transport. This aluminium wheelchair folds into a compact size and stores easily in a car trunk.
Innovative Detachable Seating System makes it easy to detach and clean the upholstery. Simply unscrew the holders and slide the seat out, it also enhances the support on the surface to help avoid the hammock effect. The frame is constructed with the fewest number of components, reducing the number of welding points, thus improving the durability and look of the wheelchair. The handle is designed according to the shape of the hand, allowing for an easier grip and a more comfortable push.
Attendant brakes are also available as an option and choose between an attendant-propelled wheelchair with a 14″ rear wheel or a self-propelled wheelchair with a 20″ rear wheel.
